Teams of 8th Grade:
Vegetable Team:October 24, 2016: - The vegetable gardeners have decided to start the planting indoors and then transfer the plants outdoors so they will have a better chance of survival against the elements. The vegetables are currently sprouting while indoors. Once they have grown to a suitable size they will be transplanted to the garden outdoors. After they are transplanted, it will be time to work with the tech team on protecting the plants against the elements. We are all looking forward to all the activities that are to come.

Tech TeamOctober 24, 2016 - Tech has just finished up their irrigation system. They are working towards finding a good insulator for the plants as it will soon be cold. Along with that they are currently choosing sensors to help collect valuable data on the garden and its progress. The tech team are extremely excited to start programming their very own irrigation machine that will help maintain and keep the irrigation system clean.
January 12, 2017: - They have recently received their sensors to monitor the plant’s individual information. They are currently assembling the sensors, along with creating the programming needed to receive data. We hope the process will continue smoothly. Herbs Team:December 9, 2016 - Herbs had difficulties with keeping the plants alive. During the treacherous cold weather with strong winds only half of the Herbs survived. They had to cover the plants with harvest covers, keeping the plants warm and hydrated.
January 12, 2017: - The parsley and mint survived and the cilantro might have survived. Although the other herbs didn’t even start to grow, we planted them again with fertilizers. |
